National Cyber Olympiad exam on Wednesday, 8th September, 2010 (06-Sep-2010)   

The 10th National Cyber Olympiad examination, for classes 3 to 10, shall be conducted on Wednesday, 8th Sep , 2010.

The duration of the exam is 1 hour and it shall be conducted during school hours.

EdTerra's journey to Jaipur and Jodhpur is entitled simply, Impressions, which has several meanings in this case. We will explore with students the impression that Rajput rule (and more specifically Sawai Jai Singh II) had on the cities of Jaipur and Jodhpur, but we will also explore our own impressions of Rajasthan's rich culture as well as the impressions left on Rajasthani culture by heritage crafts such as puppetry making.

 

Students will engage in various fun and interesting educational activities throughout the journey which will not only test their existing knowledge, but allow them to learn for themselves through exploration and through asking well thought-out questions and searching for the answers to them.

 

 

JOURNEY ITINERARY (Ex Delhi)

 

DAY ONE

Ø  Depart for Jaipur by A/C Deluxe Coach

Ø  Afternoon arrival in Jaipur, check in to hotel

Ø  Lunch and afternoon rest

Ø  Journey orientation

Ø  Evening snacks

Ø  Students will watch a Puppet Performance followed by a workshop on how to make puppets and maneuver them. At the end of the workshop, each team will be given a theme which they will use to design and perform their own puppet show at the end of the journey

Ø  Dinner and night’s rest

 

DAY TWO

Ø  Breakfast

Ø  Visit Amber Fort. Students take part in Amber Fort at Full Speed, a hit activity that has students running around the huge fort in search of interesting information and answer.

Ø  Jantar Mantar. Students will visit the famous Jantar Mantar, one of Jaipur’s prime attractions, where they will engage in a timed activity

Ø  Lunch and short afternoon rest

Ø  Miniature painting workshop at the hotel. A professional miniature artist conducts a workshop where students will learn all about miniature painting, unique to Rajasthan, and will make paintings of their own.

Ø  Evening visit to Chokhi Dhani, a cultural extravaganza! Chokhi Dhani is a model Rajathani

 

Ø  Village where students will get the feel of a typical Rajasthan. Rides, games, shopping and food are a part of the evening.

Ø  Return to the hotel, night’s rest

 

DAY THREE

Ø  Breakfast, followed by a short recap quiz to reinforce the previous day’s learning

Ø  Depart for Jodhpur by bus, lunch en route

Ø  Afternoon arrival in Jodhpur, check-in to hotel

Ø  First stop will be the mighty Mehrangarh Fort. The finest living example of a Hindu fortress, this 15th century fort is located on a sandstone hill and is home to temples and palaces. The Mehrangarh Museum, which is a part of the fort, houses materials from as early as the 16th century, and the collections range from textiles, weaponry, miniature paintings, portraits, books and manuscripts, tents, elephant howdahs and palanquins, and other objects of art.

Ø  Next stop is the breathtaking Umaid Bhawan Palace. Located on a hill, the palace has now been converted into a hotel. Part of this grand palace has been converted into a museum that houses the belongings of the royal family

Ø  Dinner and night’s rest

 

DAY FOUR

Ø  Breakfast and check out of hotel

Ø  Embark on a half day Bishnoi Village Safari. This village safari through the Bishnoi villages will teach students about the life of this very rural tribal group. Students will visit the site of the Kherjali massacre where 363 people were killed trying to protect their natural environment, the Singhasni or Muslim potter’s village, the Guda village where wildlife abounds, the Salawas (or weavers) village, and the Shepherds village. (Lunch on the safari)

Ø  After lunch departure to Jaipur by bus

Ø  Night arrival in Jaipur

Ø  Check-in to hotel, dinner and nights rest

 

DAY FIVE

Ø  Breakfast followed by a short recap quiz to reinforce the previous day’s learning

Ø  Leisure time for shopping

Ø  Depart for Delhi, lunch en route

Ø  Evening arrival in Delhi

Amritsar and Dharamsala are two very distinct cities of northern India. However, both are exemplary of limitless compassion, strength, tolerance, unity and integrity. The places they visit in Amritsar are a reminder of the hardships that people have witnessed and survived be it in Jallianwalla Bagh or the Golden Temple. At the same time it exposes the students to the beautiful Sikh philosophy and the sense of parity that it promotes. Dharamsala on the other hand is the beautiful abode of Tibetan Buddhism. Students visit the spiritual centre and also get an exposure to Buddhist art and craft along with an interaction with Tibetan students from the Tibetan Children�s Village School.

 

JOURNEY ITINERARY

 

DAY ONE

  Departure from New Delhi to Amritsar by train

  Check in to Amritsar hotel by late noon

  Freshen up and have lunch

  Departure for the historical Wagah Border which is the Indo-Pak border in Punjab. Swarming with people and defense forces from both the countries, students can witness and understand that this location is a pure confluence of humanity and nationalism.

  Dinner at hotel

 

DAY TWO

  Breakfast at hotel

  Departure for Jallianwala Bagh. This location till date reminds millions of Indians of the British bullets that peaceful protestors faced on Baisakhi of 1919.

  Visit the holiest shrine of the Sikh community � Harmandir Sahib, known to the rest of the world as the Golden Temple. Students experience the spirit of community service and compassion as they observe the sacred community langar being cooked and served to all irrespective of their caste, creed or religion.

  Departure for Dharamsala in bus

  Check in to the hotel in McLeodganj, Dharamsala, freshen up and have dinner

 

DAY THREE

  After an early breakfast, visit St. John�s Church which is at a walking distance from the McLeodganj market. This beautiful church in McLeodganj leaves traces of British rule in the country.

  After that go straight to the Tibetan Children�s Village School. This unique school established by the Dalai Lama�s sister for providing shelter and education to Tibetan students from all over the world�is a perfect platform for the students to interact with their Tibetan counterparts and understand the hardships they have gone through.

  Lunch in the hotel

  Visit Tsuglagkhang Complex. This complex is comprised of His Holiness the Dalai Lama�s residence, the Namgyal Monastery, the Central Buddhist Temple, a Tibetan Museum and a library and is the most relevant destination for the students to understand concepts of Buddhism

  An evening spent in the charming McLeodganj market; dinner at hotel

 

DAY FOUR

  After an early breakfast, go to Norbulinka Institute: Working under the Chairmanship of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Norbulingka is an institute dedicated to handing down tradition and restoring Tibetan culture. It has the various art centres where students witness the masters giving lessons to the Tibetan students in Thangka paint, appliqu�, wood carving, music and dance. The Doll Museum within the complex houses a unique collection of 150 costumed dolls depicting the regional, official and monastic costumes of Tibet. The Norbulingka gift shop has products completely produced by the artists of Norbulingka Institute.

  A short trek to the Bhagsunag temple and waterfall

DAY FIVE

  After an early breakfast, check out of the hotel

  Leave for Amritsar by bus � lunch en route

Daandia Raas Evening (30-Aug-2010)   

Dear Students across Classes 7 to 11,

The Annual Daandia Raas Evening will be held on Friday, 24th September 2010 at the GST Road Campus between 6:00pm and 8:30pm.

Students wishing to participate must pay an entry fee of Rs. 75/- per head. 

Please register yourself with the Class teacher by the 20th of September, 2010.

Students who register and pay for the evening will be issued a pass which must be brought with them that evening.

You must come dressed in traditional dresses only.

You must bring your own Daandia-sticks.

An added feature this year will be the School band !!

Canteen facility will be available.

Students have to make their own arrangement for the drop and pick up for the evening.

Students and Parents Please Note:

Coming Saturday, 4th September is a full working day for all classes - Nursery to Std XI.

The School will follow the Monday time table for coming Saturday.  However, the children may come in their regular everyday uniform.

School transportation will ply for both pick up and drop as usual.
